Don and
Ann Together
From the night they met until they got to Woodstock,
Don and Ann were growing strong in their own sweet time—
And growing closer, carefully they took stock;
Then they fell in love, and started to climb.
Ann took that winter step across the threshold,
To begin with Don the day by day dance,
In a home where love’s warm arms enfold
Hearts twined in the long romance.
Chorus:
Don and Ann together,
Like lovebirds of a feather,
In wet and sunny weather,
Building a nest,
Joining a quest,
Promising forever.
Now we gather on the Stimson’s hill in Woodstock,
On this first September Saturday,
Where Don and Ann have come to join in wedlock,
And for their happiness we’ve come to pray.
Now love goes on to do the work of growing
To know the summer rain and winter sun.
It’s love that keeps this world river flowing,
Love faithful and a love that’s also fun.
Chorus
If you want to know if bluebirds are returning,
You can look into their houses in the woods.
To see them moving in shows we are learning
To bring those bluebirds home again for good:
A house the size and shape to build a nest in,
With a mate who loves this green and rolling land—
A song-filled house beneath the trees of Weston,
Blue as the happy home of Don and Ann.
